Overview
The largest of the Canary Islands, Tenerife is one of the easiest places to find warm sunshine in the middle of a British winter – and it’s just as popular in the summer holidays.
The sunny south is home to the main resorts, with big family-friendly hotels, adults-only retreats and plenty of restaurants. Head inland and you’ll find the volcanic landscapes of Teide National Park, while the greener north has traditional towns and botanical gardens.
Boat trips to see whales and dolphins, water parks and day trips up Teide make it easy to fill a week, or simply relax by the pool.

Planning your trip
Best time to go. Tenerife is warm all year round, which is why it’s a favourite for winter sun and Christmas or New Year breaks. Summer is hotter and busier with school holidays, while spring and autumn are lovely for walking and exploring Teide.
Getting there. Most holidays fly into Tenerife South airport, which is close to the main resorts. Flights run from UK airports including Birmingham and Manchester, with more choice in winter, and we’ll compare departure airports and times for you.
